The ninth installment in the Retro Afrika Series.

The ongoing project is comprised of digitally-remastered, classic Apartheid-era films, produced by and starring native South Africans paying homage to Hollywood action, in a groundbreaking B-movie style, a precursor to today’s burgeoning Nollywood industry.

In Rich Girl, a skillful bodyguard and the wealthy businessman’s pampered daughter he protects are kidnapped!

The work’s cut out for the highly trained bodyguard tasked with protecting a wealthy businessman’s pampered and beautiful fine arts connoisseur daughter. She’s a girl who doesn’t believe she needs protection from anyone, but the two end up kidnapped by thugs who have no clue as to what’s in store for them.

As with all of the Retro Afrika films, the cast is comprised of South African actors/actresses. Rich Girl features Popo Gumede, Hector Mathanda, Lungi Mdlala, Max Mkhwanzi, John Madala, and Emanuel Shangase.

1985* / 70 minutes / Afrikanns w/English subtitles / A film by Tonie van der Merwe (*Some data suggests that the production year was actually 1980).
