Blood is thicker than any ocean in between…

An award winning film shot entirely in Cuba before the restoration of diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba…

Marcelo Quevedo and his brother Carlos were split up during childhood. Carlos departed Cuba on a boat with his mother during the 1994 Balseros Crisis to seek a different life. Marcelo was left behind and burdened with staying in Cuba to care for his grandfather who was in poor health. But distance wasn’t the only issue that marked their separation–their mother, who couldn’t endure the journey, passed away in the middle of the ocean.

Twenty years later, Carlos returns to Cuba to reconnect with his brother–only to discover that Marcelo now faced a terminal disease. Nevertheless, their re-connection represented an emotional roller coaster and a journey that oscillates between love, joy, truth, resentment, and forgiveness, leading Marcelo and Carlos to a magical “Habana Instant” that soon dissipated with an inevitable farewell that splits them apart…this time forever.
