The only official, fully-authorized feature documentary on the life and music of Chuck Berry. Directed by Jon Brewer (BB King: Life of Riley). ‘CHUCK BERRY’ tells the story of the Granddaddy of Rock & Roll.

In this highly- anticipated official and fully-authorized feature documentary, the life, impact and history of the absolute instigator of Rock and Roll is revealed with exclusive access to his family, friends, famous fans and the music icons he inspired.

Chuck Berry was the first inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with James Brown, Ray Charles, Fats Domino, the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Elvis Presley.

Berry’s life has never been covered onscreen. That changes with Chuck Berry” — Patrick Doyle, Rolling Stone

This 2019 filmed biography of Chuck Berry was produced and directed by Jon Brewer who also directed the acclaimed American Masters bio “B.B. King: Life of Riley”. It’s the fascinating story of Berry’s rise to stardom after a few unsavory incidents that landed him in juvenile detention early on.

Importantly, the film is sanctioned by Berry’ wife, Themetta Berry, and family. Most of them, including Themetta (in her very first in-depth interview), make appearances throughout the production. Included in the film too is a veritable pantheon of rock royalty including Stevie Van Zandt, Gene Simmons, Keith Richards, Joe Bonamassa, Alice Cooper, Joe Perry and more, all making on-screen appearances to speak about the man who had such a heavy influence on not just the rise of the industry from its beginnings in the early 50’s but also on their own careers.

The soundtrack includes all the much-loved Chuck Berry hit songs starting right off with Johnny B. Goode which is considered one of the most recognizable songs in the history of popular music and credited as the first rock & roll hit about rock & roll itself.

“Honours the pioneering rock star through conversations with his peers and family members.” — Daniel Ong, Guitar.com

“Focuses on his musical legacy through interviews with the likes of Keith Richards and Alice Cooper and footage from Berry’s estate.” — Ammar Kalia, The Guardian
